When we want something other than what is, we suffer. Byron Katie, teacher of The Work and author of various bestselling titles including A Thousand Names for Joy and Loving What Is, calls this arguing with reality.
When our thoughts create stress in our life, Katie explains, we are attaching to our thoughts and believing them to be true. As long as we believe these stressful thoughts we continue to live with stress. Katie teaches individuals how to question their thoughts and shares that if we take time to meet our thoughts with understanding (as she demonstrates through The Work (4 questions)), we invite our deepest truth to emerge from within. As we do this, she teaches, we open the doorway to greater freedom, inner peace and love for self and one another.
Gangaji
Katie so gracefully and succinctly says ” When the mind is perfectly clear, what is is what we want”.
Loving What IS – A Path to Inner Peace and Your Intuition
How about that? That statement comes a place of unconditional love. What a beautiful space to live from. A space that Byron Katie lives from and invites others to do as well. From my experience, that is no easy task, but a deeply honourable task and commitment, and one that feels very close to my heart.
I participated in Byron Katie’s 9 day School for The Work and inquired into my stressful thoughts. I took the time to meet my thoughts with understanding and what I found was humility, love and compassion for myself and others. Getting to know the 350 other participants present from all over the world, enabled me to not only meet myself more intimately but it felt like I was connecting with humanity more intimately.
Throughout the 9 days together we all met the sacred place inside ourselves that holds our wisdom and personal truth. The answers that someone else had were perfect and right for them and the answers and truth that I found for myself were perfect and right for me. When we know our own truth and honour it as sacred, we move closer to peace within. We all shared in this experience with deep gratitude.
Through this experience I touched upon many deep personal truths. Most importantly this process confirmed what I know and believe to be true:
There is no greater answer out there than the one we find within ourselves.
We each have the answers we are looking for. Knowing this allows us to listen to our intuition and use it as our own personal navigation system to guides us and enable us to move through all of life with deeper trust, ease and grace.
How are you enabling your intuition to guide you? How are you honouring the answers that you have within your own self?
May you inquire into your own thoughts, question them and unearth the essence underneath them that is you. May you find what you are looking for. Your own personal truth and wisdom, the connection to your intuition and inner knowing.

Fear is something most of us don’t want to experience. It can conjure up thoughts of being totally overwhelmed and debilitated, causing the body to respond to the very thought of a fear with pressure in the chest, sick feelings in the stomach and even causing the heart to beat rapidly. So it no wonder we don’t want to experience fear.
Gangaji
Being willing to meet fear, face to face, you open to the opportunity to experience the fear and allow it to unravel in front of you, to reveal that the fear is nothing when met fully! The greatest fear was of the fear of itself.
What is Fear?
The interesting part is that even though you may deny your fears, they are merely pushed to the side, so to speak and only to arise at the most inopportune (or opportune) times. Again may find yourself pushing this fear aside as quickly as possible.
Say for example you had a fear of public speaking, and through your business or work you are offered an opportunity to speak to an audience of 300 people, about that a subject that you are totally passionate about. The fear for some of you reading this might be so overwhelming from the moment of the invitation, so much so, that you say “No thanks” to this amazing opportunity.
For others you might find yourself saying, “Yes” and wonder how you will deal with it later.
Tomorrow is the day of the speaking event, you toss and turn in bed that night, stomach churning, wondering if may be you have food poisoning or a stomach upset (you might even find yourself hoping that this is true!).
In this moment, the fear has arisen to be met! So rather than pushing on through the fear STOP, even if it is only for ½ a second, STOP and be still, willing to meet this fear.
If you find it hard at first to simply stop, you can ask yourself, what is it that I am most afraid of in this moment? You might be surprised at what thoughts rise, it might be of embarrassing yourself, maybe that people won’t like what you have to say, maybe something totally different. I will often take the fear as far as I can by asking something like, “What if nobody ever approved of me ever again?” The fear then springs forward to be met.
So in this moment of meeting the fear, STOP! Completely STOP! You will notice patterns of wanting to move on quickly or change the subject arises, you can consciously choose to let those pass through as you STOP and observe them. There is no need to change a thing, simply observe, watch how the energy moves around the body then suddenly subsides and opens you to experience a feeling that is often described as expansiveness, nothingness, stillness, peaceful and loving.
This idea is not to become a new concept and strategy for the mind, simply an opportunity to meet with fear and allow it to pass, as it does naturally. What ever the fear is, be willing to STOP and experience it in the moment.
When we ignore any emotions, including fear, the energy and lesson is stored within the body and often represents later. So why not take the opportunity to meet it as it presents.
When you allow emotions to be present, you may also notice stories beginning to present too! You may even notice many stories begin to appear. The stories of blame “he/she did this to me”, the stories of guilt “it is all because I did that terrible thing”, the stories of justified anger “I have a right to be angry about this”. Simply observe the stories as the appear, the mind may present many memories when you are ready to clear or complete patterns in your life. So as best you can, observe the stories, and allow them to pass through and notice that when you don’t delve into the stories, it simply fades away, as does the emotions.
As Gangaji asks “Are you willing to have your heart broken?” Within that breaking that heart breaks open. I am not suggesting that you go looking for experiences of having your heart broken, simply allowing it to happen when it does.
When you are unwilling to have your heart broken, you may not be fully living; protecting yourself from the possibility of having your heart broken can be a very consuming role. A role that may be denying you the opportunity of experiencing the very thing that can open your heart to love as you have never loved before, and to experience every moment in life as life enhancing rather than events to be avoided.
Have you every noticed that what you avoid the most is that which persists in your life and represents itself over and over again? This is very situation that persists may be offering you an opportunity to open and experience the unknown.
Life is made up of both positive and negative energy, positive and negative emotions. Neither is right or wrong or better or worse than the other, they are both simply energy. Both the positive and negative are needed to fully experience life.
“This too will pass” is a wonderful reminder at this point. As the emotions are passing you are opening to a joyful understanding and knowing that life is a wonderful collection of experiences, when fully experienced in each moment.
Fear is an opportunity to open to freedom!

You can discover what you really want in life by asking yourself some straightforward questions. If you are willing to respond plainly and honestly you will find the answers to be crucial to your self-discovery and happiness. Many people set out on the path of self-discovery by searching for what they want in life. It might be a relationship, an experience, a better job or something else. Using various methods that are available in abundance they learn how to attract relationships, get jobs, and generally move things around in their lives. At some point, however, they will inevitably confront the realization that they remain unsatisfied and have not discovered what they really truly want in life.
What Makes A Person Happy?
Gangaji
At some point in your search you will encounter that same realization and you will find that we are taught to look in the strangest of places for our happiness. The emphasis seems universally to be on the outside. By that I mean things like a good job, a solid relationship, adequate shelter and food are held up as the reference point for happiness in life. Naturally, all of these things are very good, indeed vital to have and we can learn how to get them by using our minds clearly, and we can help each other to have them through generous and ongoing sharing of resources. Yet, we can’t help but notice that life is filled up with stories of people who have all of these things and remain unhappy while many people who have practically nothing are nevertheless able to find contentment. At this point we have to ask ourselves, what makes a person happy? And with that question we will have started to really examine what we want in life.
How To Discover What You Really Want In Life
Taking Care Of Business First
Before I introduce the questions that will help you inquire into what you really want in life, I want to emphasize that it is very difficult to set aside time to reflect on these questions when a person doesn’t know where their children’s next meal is coming from or how they will pay their rent. For that reason I support using whatever spiritual or self-help methods will do the trick to take care of the structures in life. Having a home, a job and the means to support yourself or your children will free up the mental and emotional energy it takes to think of the larger questions that lead you to understanding what you really want.
Inquire Within
To begin you will need a notepad and a pen. Take some time to write down on paper your answer to the question what do I want? Try not to edit your response and allow whatever wants to be expressed to arise. It could be a relationship, a job or health. Whatever it is, write it down. The next part of your task is to use your imagination and try to visualize that you already have it. Take a moment to think about that. Imagine how you would feel, act, dress and talk if it were an already accomplished fact in your life. And then write down on the paper the answer to this question: what has having [whatever it is] added to my experience of life? Or you may prefer this form of the question: who would I be with [whatever it is] in my life?
Typical answers to this question are, I would be more peaceful; I would by happy; I would be free. Whatever you come up with, now you know the answer to what you really want in life. If you are a person who prays, now you know exactly how to focus your prayer work because you will have identified what it is you yearn for. If you are not the praying kind, you have still identified the key to your happiness and can now focus on it.
What Does It Represent?
There is a humorous story about a man who prayed for a relationship and after a while a neighbor gives him a puppy. Although delighted with the puppy he finds himself complaining to a friend that his prayer remains unanswered, to which the friend replies “but don’t you have everything you said you wanted: connection, devotion, a feeling of value?” This is exactly what you are trying to get at in your own inquiry. What does it, the thing or experience you say you want, represent to you? If you say ‘freedom’ or ‘peace,’ would you be willing to have that freedom or peace come to you in whatever form it arrives?
One of my favorite spiritual teachers, Gangaji, says that the truth is that having freedom or peace, or whatever it is you discover you want, is possible to have now in this moment. I take that to mean that any quality of being I can come up with, such as joy, peace, freedom, etc., is available everywhere all of the time because they do not depend on conditions. In other words, I may have once thought that out of relationship, joy arises. Now with this inquiry I am realizing that out of joy, relationship arises.
Just Imagine
Imagine this: the experience or feeling you seek is actually present and available now. To get a sense of that, try to drop your outward reference for what you believe will result in that feeling you have identified. In other words, use your imagination to ask yourself if there is any barrier between you and the feeling right now. Ask yourself, do I have access to peace right now regardless of whether or not the car, relationship, or puppy is present?
Over the years of working with people I have seen several people respond to this realization in a number of different ways. Some are shocked at the simplicity and when they first get it, they experience a rush of personal self-esteem when they realize what they are capable of. Some find the realization humorous and relieving and have the sense of shaking of a life time of burden. Others experience an initial wave of sadness for having been deluded for so long, but move on from that sadness rather quickly when they realize that they have access to as much peace now as they ever did. Still others feel a rejection of the idea that they could be happy and peaceful now and return with insistence to the idea that their peace of mind depends solidly on a certain event, person or outcome.

We come forward now at the brink of a “quantum shift”, but what is it? What is this evolutionary shift we are all on the brink of? It is about women regaining their power and channeling it into the right places. We have just forgotten where to channel it.
The deepest, most ancient secrets of life lie within the womb of every woman. The womb is the holiest temple in your body, the most energy filled place in your body, the place of your most clarity, intuition, creative expression and power. It is your primordial voice, and connector into the web of all life, the web of interdependence that connects all living beings to each other.
Gangaji
We are all birthed from the womb, yet it is one of the least known parts of ourselves. This is not surprising, for it holds the greatest power that a woman possesses; the power to nurture, grow, and create new life. This power of creation is what each woman holds within them, usually only exercising it in the process of giving physical birth.
Womb Wisdom
The womb is not just a place to give birth to a baby; it is a place and state of being that births US, that births new realities, that holds a power for deep transformation for ourselves, and for others we come into contact with. The Womb is a womans feminine core, the generator of tremendous creative potential, vitality, boundless well being, sensual power, and manifestation. It not only births children, but projects, careers, spiritual potential, personal healing and the depths of relating we all yearn for. It births the divine masculine and feminine, bringing balance and loving power to our deepest relationships.
Imagine it; there is a place within us that holds the power of life and death, yet we only use it one or two times in our life. The rest of the time it lies neglected, its power and ability to love and create hidden, misunderstood, and forgotten about.
Yet this has not always been so. In the past, and in present day indigenous traditions, women have known the way of the womb, the knowledge, practices, and power of the womb, and how to use it to create on a profound level. Some of these great women from both East and West include Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary, the female Buddha Yeshe Tsogyal, the Priestesses of Isis, the Daoist and African sisterhoods, and the druid shamanesses of Ireland and England.
As women, we have become so divorced from the womb, our primal centre of gravity, joy, creativity and soul connection, that we have forgotten who we are, and how we could be. Instead we try to compete on masculine terms and conditions to get by in the world of today. The flowering of the feminine rose has become dwarfed by the pillar of the masculine, instead of both sitting side by side in harmony, and relative equality.
This imbalance is caused by us forgetting about the womb, and its true purpose and power. In this forgetting, men too have forgotten how to relate fully to the feminine, and how to be truly human, building walls of intellectual justification and anger around the wounds and holes that have been created by this separation. Many religions and ways of behaviour have been influenced by this separation, creating a grossly distorted view of spirituality and social behaviour that has formed the current infrastructures of society, and how we are living life today. These structures have been created by a handful of men without women, creating an innately flawed and imbalanced worldview and society.
The effects on human society of this imbalance are many and manifold, impacting every area of human life, from the environment, to nuclear arms, educational and cultural values, spiritual traditions and commandments, the loss of family values, and the failure of many intimate relationships and marriages between man and woman. In short, the loss of womb wisdom and power has created a huge imbalance on planet earth that impacts all of us, creating an unstable foundation for our cultures and our lives that is threatening to topple over at any moment, so lopsided has it become.
The increase of intellectualization allied with a lack of actual womb experience means that women are increasingly finding their centre of gravity in their heads, rather than in their wombs. This arises partly as a reaction to the male dominated ideas and concepts that form the foundation of most religions and societies today.
A womans centre is in her womb-heart, not her head. She lives on earth, connected through relationship, not in an abstract concept or code of what life is. As soon as a womans centre of gravity shifts to the womb, she becomes centred, empowered, present, and grounded. When a womans centre is in her head, she suffers badly, and becomes more disempowered, trying to compete with men who are mind centred, thereby losing connection with her feminine essence.
Women are sad that they are centred in their heads, as they innately know that it is not true for them. When they start doing womb work, their sadness and rage well up within them as they realize this, and they start to shift their centres of gravity and resonance back to their primal centre, the source of their joy and womanhood. This then allows the heart to flower, deeply, and organically, flowing in spontaneity, emanating from the web of life, from what is uniquely individual to you at any moment in time, from all that nurtures and supports life, from empathy, and from compassion.
For thousands of years women have been without a role model, not knowing where to turn, or whom to look to to inspire and nurture them. Women have not known where to belong, and the changing roles imposed upon them by a reason driven society have further pushed the essence of the feminine nature into seclusion, and into a pastiche of true femininity as witnessed in modern day consumer society where this pastiche is used to sell products, seduce and manipulate.
Deep within, you know that you must go beyond what is considered normal, and acceptable, in order to stand in your own authority. Woman becomes able to accomplish her own birthing when she leaves behind her attachment to the collective consciousness, the traditional beliefs, institutions, and what is considered in the collective to be culturally acceptable womanly roles and virtues. Separate yourself from those fear driven voices and approaches of both women and men who attempt to belittle the power and full significance of birth and transformation. For the Womb creates new life, letting go of the past.
In this separation, you become able to truly trust yourself, and what is uniquely individual to you. This process of transformation depends upon your ability to feel and fully experience essential feminine values birthed from the womb. Merely having knowledge of, or understanding it rationally is not enough. You have to experience the feminine, making it your own, and living her fully in this initiation, holding your deep felt belly wisdom and gut knowing, your gut instincts to preserve and keep life going.
All life benefits when women come to love their bodies, and live from their truth. For the womb is the generator and keeper of Life, source of full feminine expression. The womb and ovaries are the light generators of the feminine, and the creator of joy. When they are cleared and healed of the many veils of disempowerment, mis-education and repression, you connect fully with your own feminine core in clarity, joy and the full, free expression of life-force, the orgasmic energy of bliss.
Activating the womb is a powerful act that heals many deep seated age-old wounds in both the female, and male, consciousness. Healing the womb helps activate and illuminate the collective psyche, and also powerfully heals on the personal level. For when the womb is cleared, healed, and restored, women come into their full power. By doing so, the men too become balanced, whole, and healed.
This empowerment is infused with loving wisdom, holding, caressing, and sometimes pushing the masculine into action, and healing. This feminine fire has the potential to restore balance between the masculine and feminine, by holding the crucible and container for heart-centred relationship. By women living from their centre of power, joy, and love, and men supporting this, both become deeply nourished through this deepening and opening within themselves. When a woman and a man have integrated both their aspects, they can rise above being just one or the other, realising that male and female are just roles to be played, like putting on a robe to suit different occasions. The fluidity of moving between these polarities is accessed when a woman is totally able to be a woman, and a man a man.
The womb provides the basis for a revolution in society. An awakened, socially conscious, and egalitarian society is built on the foundation of the womb that honours life in all its forms as the basis of society, not as an “add on” or a pleasing secondary thought. This divine design is activated and manifested through the organic flowering of the womb and application of its laws and rhythms. This divine design descends soul energy into manifestation; at present, human civilization descends mental energy into manifestation, and ascends root chakra or survival/power/sexual issues into manifestation.
The single most important issue facing humanity is not war, the environment, or poverty; it is the opening of the womb, and the standing up and liberation of women. All else has been done, all teachings on Oneness, liberation, manifestation…and still the world is the same. Women hold the key for the world to become a peaceful, just and balanced place. In their standing up, men too will become liberated, and lay down their arms, their pollution creating devices, and share their riches with others.
With enough open and healed wombs, no war would ever dare be fought by men who listen to the voice of the womb, to the empowered, life affirming woman in their life who shares the sustaining, nurturing power of life. Poverty would be wiped out as female leaders share, distribute, and create structures for people to become self empowered and living in real relating. The environment will heal itself with the presence of a more fertile consciousness, nourishing life from its source. With this nourishing love or manna, nature regenerates itself at its core level, and grows the dying planet back to Life. This is already happening in conscious, manna filled communities worldwide, and is part of the template for the remembrance of our natural divinity as individuals, and as a collective.
The strength and depths of the womb provide the security and foundation deep within to rise up and express freely through the heart. Head and heart work within grounded foundations sunk deep within the womb. The head by itself cannot come into the heart. The womb is required to bring down the mind into our true centre, that can then rise up and express through the heart, from solid foundations.
The womb feels autonomous, a voice of its own, and can respond depending on what is required in each moment. The wombs voice is wise, ancient, powerful, and connected to the primordial. It is sunk deep, whereas the heart gives rise to passion, inspiration, and expression of love. Womb holds, heart gives. Hearts desire is to unify and bring things together – to end division. The womb holds the space for that to happen, for that to birth into manifestation.
Heart manifests womb, and womb holds heart in a secure space, allowing the heart to go deeper into its layers, rather than just being on the surface or merely sentimental aspect of the heart. The womb holds the steadiness, the unwavering centre and ground of creation, steady, still, reliable, the well of creation. With this foundation, the heart then feels safe and secure, feeling its innate and natural ground to rest on, lean and rely upon, a place to arise from.
One can say that the Womb is the banks of the river, and the heart is the river. The womb is the container for the alchemy of love to occur and rise into manifestation and being. Mind is the servant of womb heart, designed to carry out its orders. The heart is incomplete without the maturity of the womb. The womb establishes deep within the character, the clarity, the commitment and stamina, housing the ground upon which you may come to take solace and guidance throughout your greatest tests in life.
You have within you this reliable source of stillness. Do you have the heart to discover it?
So men.. stand up and support the women in your life. Do not be scared that you will lose your power, for you will in fact gain the greatest power of all: love borne through humility, that which makes a real man, a perfect man, a king and leader to suit your queen and guide. Have faith, and listen to the womb; it will serve you to enter your truth, your power, and your true maleness. It will serve you to enter the greatest bliss, the greatest softness, and the deepest power, the wisdom of which will make you stand out as a real man.
Women: delve deep into your primal power, beyond the appearances, customs, and religions of this day. Delve into the Knowing you have always had, and always will, a Knowing that no religion can ever encompass, and that no culture can ever define. Delve deep into your belly and the brain that lies there: the primal brain, your original voice, the voice that will never betray you and will always lead you to the truth of love in action, the being of joy, and the peace that passes all understanding.
This is your time. Seize it, open the wounds, leave the justifications and layers of fear, dust, and excuses that you use to cover the layers of yourself that you KNOW lie hidden, and that you have bartered away for a false peace to placate the masculine in, and around you. By doing this, you will be serving and loving the masculine in your life, truly loving them in the deepest way possible.
Womb work is designed for you to grow and bloom this holy place within, into full manifestation. With the resurrection of the womb comes the resurrection of man. Man will find a new identity that is his timeless, primordial identity, his true identity, when he comes into harmony with the clear and activated womb.
The Womb is the gateway from where we all come, and where we return to. To realize this takes the deepest surrender, to that which lies beyond the mind and reason. In the womb, you cannot KNOW what is happening as it is happening; you simply have to allow, embrace, and trust its feminine voice.
Remember the love as and when you can through the journey. It is only one, small shift of the mind away.

She is a published author with her book Open the Heart with Kundalini Yoga ( Harper Collins 02) as well as Womb Wisdom (Inner Traditions 2010) and has also been a regular contributor to magazines and newspapers such as Kindred Spirit, Yoga Journal, The Mail on Sunday, The Guardian, The Telegraph amongst others.
The Aquarian Age, like all the other ages, has its’ potential for our spiritual development, and it’s pitfalls if we only allow the energies to be filtered through our lower vibration ‘personality filters’. This is why we each need to be consciously working on our own awakening, or spiritual development. Psychologist Carl Rogers spoke of ‘seven stages of process’ towards Self-realization. Self-realization itself is not the ultimate goal. It is also a stage. Self-realization is related to Leo, the fifth sign, and could be considered stage 5 in our spiritual development. In Esoteric Astrology Alice Bailey wrote that we could not fully understand the significance of the 12 zodiac signs because our consciousness was not evolved enough. In “Esoteric Astrology” the Tibetan (Master DK) wrote through Alice Bailey, that all our disease was a result of ‘separation’.
All illness happens as a result of separation. The illusion of separation, is one of distorted perception. The Buddha explained that we fail to see reality as it really is, because we see only through our filters. It is as though we are trying to look outside through dirty windows. We cannot see how things really are until we clean the glass!
Gangaji
The ‘mental’ illness that we all have, is as a result of our distorted perception. We mistakenly believe we are separate, not only from each other, but from the whole of existence. Our spiritual process of becoming ‘awake’ or ‘enlightened’ is simply one of perceiving reality correctly. This happens when we have cleaned our distorted filters and perceptions, which only happens through effort. If we do nothing we remain ‘deluded’ by our faulty perceptions.
Soul Astrology – The Aquarian Age and Your Soul Sign
Just as nobody else can chew our food for us, neither can anyone else get inside our head and do a bit of housekeeping! Some work is ours alone to do, and our spiritual work, falls into this category. This is why in Zen and many traditions there are so many analogies between sweeping, cleaning, and our spiritual work.
It is our job to clean our windows from the inside, so that we begin to perceive reality correctly! During the next 2,500 years of this Aquarian Age, the spiritual potential of Aquarius is enormous, but there is also the greatest danger of all that if we continue to mis-perceive reality, the power of Aquarius can actually feed our ‘delusions’ and increase our mistaken sense of separateness.
Take technology as a clear example. The internet is a very Aquarian invention. Aquarius is the sign of genius, inventions, technology, groups and humanity. So it makes sense that at the very beginning of the Aquarian Age we would have invented a technology that allows us to connect with people all across the globe, and potentially unite humanity.
Aquarius is the fixed air sign. All air signs are mastering the mind. Fixed energy is needed to create structures, scaffolds, canals, (even networks) that hold things in place. So, as with all these Divine energies Aquarius can be a double-edged sword, depending upon whether we make a conscious effort to open ourselves up to its’ highest potential, or just allow the energy to trickle in through our pre-conceived, and erroneous, ego-filters.
One of the hardest lessons that the Aquarian Age will teach us – is that it is our fixed ideas, thoughts and opinions that isolate and separate us.
(Aries is also a sign of the mind because in rushing forward as the first sign – the impulse to exist – Aries hits the first spiritual ‘hurdle’ – the original idea, the idea that there is a ‘me’ that is separate from everything else. But as a fire sign Aries is mastering action- Aries spiritual challenge is to look to his or her motivation. What is the Source of this impulse to act? Is it really ‘me’? Or is it Divine? Is it the whole of existence? Aries understands the significance of existence. The spiritual lessons are different from those of Aquarius.)
All diseases of this Aquarian Age will result from the ‘fixed mind’ being locked onto a limited, distorted, and false, perception of reality. At the same time the highest spiritual potential of Aquarius is inviting us to expand our awareness, consciousness, and perception, to correctly perceive the whole of existence. The Soul Ruler of Aquarius is Jupiter: the planet of expansion. It is inviting us out beyond our mundane thoughts to perceive the ultimate reality and then share the benefits with our human brotherhood (sisterhood). The Soul purpose of Aquarius is to ‘pour forth the waters (of love and light) for thirsty humanity’.
We can see that amid its greatest potential, unless we consciously make some effort to expand our perceptual capacity (in a very Cancerian way), reach out, connect and detect the presence of heart-centred awareness, then we could remain locked in our bedrooms, in a very isolated manner, and only use our amazing technology to connect in very superficial, aloof, and cold ways. This would become the Aquarian nightmare, not the Aquarian dream.
More Aquarian influences are radical ‘ideas’, communal living: breaking away from conventions and exploring alternative green technologies, and ways of living that are kinder to the planet. Part of the Aquarian ‘nightmare’ is the emergence of the self-appointed ‘eco-policeman’ as people with fixed Aquarian opinions, develop a false sense of ‘righteousness’ (ego-filter) and presume to impose their fixed ideas and opinions on others. This is not progress. We cannot make spiritual progress from a fixed idea of who we think we are, or how we ‘think’ we should be. If we are busy acting how we ‘think’ we should be, we will never discover that which we already are.
“There is no dogma, no belief system, and no ritual
necessary for this discovery.” – Gangaji
We need to get out of our heads, and into real, lived, experience of our spiritual essence to realize our true nature. This is when the radical ‘ideas’ of Aquarius, will be tempered with warmth, loving-kindness, and sincere, heartfelt compassion for our spiritual brothers and sisters. Our human family.
Meditation is the best medicine for our age. It trains us to place our attention where we choose. It gives us the ability to shift our awareness through different levels of perception, much like a car shifting gears. It allows us to shift from thinking, to other modalities of perceiving beyond thought, and to hold our attention there. This is how we realize that our reality is so much more than we ‘think’ it is. We are currently limited by thinking, and thinking is not perceiving.
If during these times, you notice that your attention is very much on what you think others should be doing, it is time to go inside and do a bit of window cleaning! Meditation really is our best medicine.
Remember the zodiac polarities? In addition to meditation the next best ‘medicine’ for being ‘too Aquarian’, is to move more towards the opposite pole of Leo: the sign of the heart. When the radical ideas of Aquarius are tempered with the heartfelt warmth and generous sharing of Leo, we will begin to understand what it means to ‘pour forth the waters of love and light’.
